New Bedford Massachusetts hosted the 12th International Azorean Whaleboat Regatta. In this Regatta three teams competed, Faial, Pico and the United States of America. The Regatta consisted of four races, rowing and sailing which both men and women competed in.
Team Pico took all four categories by storm, giving the crowd an upset, unlike the previous races it competed in. Prior years Team Pico would only excel in one category, rowing.
